The Story

The Ocean has been always a double-edged sword.    Beautiful and attracting on the one hand, powerful and  dangerous on the other. And still today, 50.000 years  after the first evidence of a boat construction, mankind has not even come near the objective of getting control of it, as nature shows us. An interesting open issue, then it's a matter of fact, that space travelling has awaken far more interest than discovering the sea unknowns.

The Present

Our society is growing steadily with increasing consumption needs. This causes the necessity to optimize existent energy resources and even to find new ones. Wind and solar energy are good examples of this fact, brought forward by governments & companies. Wind Energy's recognization has taken over 20 years, with its pioneers being first treated as lunatics. And there comes Ocean Energy, presenting less visual impact, and remarkable potential in terms of availability and power.

World Energy Council 2001 Survey stated the potential exploitable wave energy resources worldwide to be 2 TW. For European waters the resource was estimated to be able to cover more than 50% of the total power consumption.

The Goal

Evolution involves adaptability throughout innovation. And this homepage shows you the fundamentals on Ocean Energy, suggesting that you share your knowledge with others. The first way is to list the most important institutions concerned worldwide with the R & D of Ocean Energy Devices. Both environmental and economical groups are taken into account, too. It is a kick-off proposal to enhance a network that will be a major step towards the acknowledgment of this renewable energy form.
